Brief
Our mission: to reimagine a once-thriving fishery and processing plant on the Dingle Peninsula into a vibrant, immersive experience that would honour and showcase the rich marine life of this coastal gem. The Wave Experience was envisioned as a digital, family-friendly aquarium—an interactive journey into the marine world, celebrating the history, legends, and native sea life of Dingle. Visitors of all ages would be invited to explore and engage with stories of local icons and historical moments brought to life in an innovative way.
Approach
We joined the project early, serving as a principal partner to the Wave team, steering the digital journey that would transform this vision into a unique, interactive reality. From the beginning, we sought to create compelling solutions that combined storytelling with immersive technology.
Among our standout contributions was an interactive experience dedicated to Fungie, Dingle’s iconic dolphin. Fungie, a beloved figure who captivated the hearts of countless visitors with his playful antics and acrobatic displays, is now vividly recreated in 3D. This touch-based experience allows visitors to interact with Fungie as if he were right there, sharing fun facts, local stories, and unforgettable images of his impact on Dingle Bay’s culture and lore.
Another highlight is the spectacular 12-meter, 360-degree wrap-around digital display that immerses guests in the wonders of local marine life. Life-sized blue whales, dolphins, and rays glide across the screen, accompanied by the sounds of Dingle Bay’s underwater world. This expansive display offers visitors a breathtaking view and feel of the bay’s marine ecosystem like never before.
For those eager to learn more, we installed interactive tablets featuring a wealth of detailed, beautifully presented information on a variety of marine species. Each tablet hosts custom-designed interactive PDFs, rich with images, facts, and an intuitive navigation system crafted for all ages to enjoy.
Result
The Dingle Wave Experience has transformed into a unique destination, blending technology with local heritage to create a memorable adventure that celebrates Dingle’s marine treasures. Families, tourists, and locals alike now have a space where they can connect with the bay’s history and marine life in a way that feels both personal and profound. The interactive experiences have resonated widely, bringing the magic of the Dingle Peninsula to life in an engaging, educational, and entertaining environment.
